As the USBCHA Finals continue...without me...in Colorado....the World Trial is going on in Scotland.  I wonder if Colorado and Scotland are about the same size?  Hmmm

Folks I am rooting for...Tommy Wilson and Sly for sure.  My Bella's 3/4-or-so sister.  Sly gives me great hope for a tension free relationship with my girl.  And then there is Claire Burson, my friend!  She lives my dream for me......spending half her year in the UK! 

I'm just sitting here contemplating how much I want to spend to watch the finals.  My friend and partner in crime put down a sweet run at the US finals and I really want to watch her run so I am buying time!  Here is the link to buy time to watch runs.....I think the first hour is free.....

It's Here!

In order to get over my pity party of being left behind....I have spent the last two days setting and exhausting sheep at the AKC Border Collie Specialty that is being held in Scio, Oregon.  This is the AKC's version of the USBCHA finals...so to speak.  I'll post move thoughts on all this later, but I just wanted to share....today, I was glued to my iPhone, reading tweets to keep up with the first day of the USBCHA finals.

Over on Facebook, there area a few posts about "get over it, bad stuff happens all over the world" and "we as Americans are stuck in our grudge holding".  I so don't agree.  I want to honor and remember and yes, move forward.  I feel a need to celebrate the heroes who showed us what America really is made of.  I'm also thankful for the reminder, at least once a year, to stop taking life for granted! Stop sweating the small stuff, and as you know.....

But Wait, It's Saturday!

                                                                

Yesterday, Monique pointed out that it was Friday.  My empty nester life has turned into a blur of endless activity that is lacking chapter marks without school open houses and football games.  The eye doctor, who is hell bent on helping me hit my cross drive panels, assures me the, what I am choosing to call my "should have had more" stage will pass with time. Please understand why I write my Tell All Thursday on a Saturday morning, thinking it is actually Tuesday but glad for all these extra days!

1. What is the biggest thing that grossed you out over the past week?

I do not get grossed out easily.  I am a retired RN for goodness sakes, and a home health one at that.  I have seen some nasty nasty stuff.  In all actuality, I sort of get a fascination out of things that would make others hurl.  Like the mummy lamb I pulled last lambing season....I did indeed dissect it.  I also lanced and cleaned a foxtail abscess on a ewe this week. 

2. What do you feed your dogs?

Taste of the Wild Salmon + NutriSource Chicken and Rice + fish oil

3. If you could move anywhere where would you live?

Wales, Malin, Idaho......but in all reality, I work hard and finding all the reasons to love where I live now.  I have struggled with the idea that "anywhere else" would solve a problem when in reality that problem would move right with me.  A little serious for a Saturday morning but there you have it!  I really love that George Strait song, "I Saw God Today."

It is so true.....and so I look for His fingerprints right where I am at.

4. What is the funniest thought that occurred to you (or thing that happened to you) this week?

The neighbor's chicken has decided to move her four babies to my place.  This is soooo not going to work.  But Gyp, having never seen chickens before, gave a low quiet bark at them and then promptly went and dabbed chicken crap on her neck perfume points!  Atta way to show 'em...and clever to take it home with ya!

5. If you couldn't have your breed of choice what would be next on your list?

Tuesday, (the real Tuesday) for the first time ever, I got to see a Huntaway work!  It really was amazing! 

The Heading Dog (aka New Zealand Border Collie) + my border collies were used to gather the 125 acre field of the 1000 ewes and lambs....but once the mob got close, the Huntaway began the big push to the pen.

Yes they do bark!  But not in an insane, OCD way....from what I could see, he only barked when he needed to move them in a BIG way.  Other than that, this one was very quiet and very serious.

I think they are handsome in a different sort of way.  So put me down for a Huntaway as a dog I would love to have a go at training.

Meeker starts today.  The list of handlers running is filled with folks from my neck of the woods.  Someday....maybe....but for now here is the link.

The International starts tomorrow which is this evening my time. 

All these trials......all these fabulous dogs and handlers.....and more to come!  Almost better than chocolate!

International Speak

Due to the fact that, where I live, we are having the hottest September ever.....I continue to live vicariously through others thanks to the Internet! 

SoHo finished up with absolute perfection for us stay-at-homers.  Only thing better might have been the ability to watch runs...but the website updates were so very timely and the facebook updates the last day were fabulous.

While folks are packing up and making the sojourn to Meeker.....let's hop across the pond and stay glued to the refresh button as the International gets underway....

What Keeps Your Attention this Labor Day Weekend?

Mine is on my computer monitor....controlled by the wicked Internet.......which will pretty much have me wrapped around its "OCD paradise, needing an intervention for the number of times I hit the refresh button, OMG I must be on drugs" finger for the majority of September! 

This weekend is SoHo to the cool elite crowd or just plain Soldier Hollow for the "wanna bees" who stay home living vicariously through the blogs that tell it like they want to see it.
